Tenjin Festival (Osaka Tenmangu Shrine)

The Tenjin Festival is one of the largest three festivals in Japan. The highlight of the festival, called Honmiya, is on the 25th of July.

Hiranogo Summer Festival(Kumata Shrine)

Since ancient times, Hiranogo has prospered as an autonomous city surrounded by channels. The town still keeps its traditional charm.

This was a project started up by a group of locals. They had one goal in mind: jazz up the streets and make the city of Takatsuki come alive!

Rinku Tako Carnival

Rinku Tako Carnival

A special carnival fair to promote octopus and other local seafood was started by five local fisheries cooperative associations. The feature of this campaign is Izumi-dako (octopus from Izumi) which competes with Akashi-dako (octopus from Akashi). The carnival takes place once a year in Rinku Town along the shores of Osaka Bay, and is hosted in rotation by one of the associations.

Mozu Hachimangu Tsukimi Festival

The Mozu Hachimangu Shrine was built in Emperor Kinmei's reign in memory of the prayer of Empress Jingu to protect the local populations for tens of thousands of years. Later the Emperor Kinmei built the shrine and dedicated it to Empress Jingu, naming the shrine Mozu (Literally ten thousand generations).

Danjiri Festival

Accompanied by the sound of drums and bells, a total of 35 guilds race their danjiri floats through the streets in both districts. "Yarimawashi" is a particularly spectacular event during which floats that weigh over 4 tons make turns at sharp corners at break-neck speed. The sights and sounds of danjiri floats criss-crossing the streets of Kishiwada is not an experience to be missed.

PL Fireworks Art

PL Fireworks is a big annual event that a lot of people in and around Osaka look forward to. Twenty thousand fireworks scorching through the night skies is a sight that has to be seen to be believed.

Fall Festival at Takemikumari Shrine Osaka School Rugby Football Competition  

Fall Festival at Takemikumari Shrine

A total of 20 danjiri floats from Chihara Akasaka Village, Kanan Town and Tondabayashi City gather before Heiei, a traditional resting place in the Takemikumari Shrine. Once "Niwaka" (improvised buffoonery) is performed, the danjiri floats then parade through the region.

Osaka School Rugby Football Competition

In November of each year, children from 40 rugby schools, ranging in age from infant children to six graders, gather to take part in this big competition. It's a fun and lively activity.
